A Leap of Faith
From the Owner... Welcome to our school and thank you for trusting us with the most important aspect of our lives- our children.
Philosophy-“Life is a stage!” Whether at school, at play, at home, in public, or on an actual stage, it is imperative that children feel comfortable and present themselves in an appropriate and pleasing manner. I believe the performing arts give a child the necessary tools to ‘put their best foot forward’.
As an educator, I understand the need for constant nurturing, specific development, and tireless instruction for students.
As an artist, I believe that introducing children to the various disciplines of dance and theater give them opportunities to discover their passion and their strengths.
Training-I remember my grandmother taking me to get my first pair of ballet and tap shoes when I was 4 years old. I felt ‘big’ and important. During elementary school, I was a member of Tapn’Twirlers, where I took dance, acrobatics, and drama lessons. My high school years included performing dance and the gymnastics team. I studied and taught Ballet, Jazz, and Tap at Dancer’s Workshop and was one of the original members of Yuma Ballet Theatre. I graduated from ASU, earning a BFA in Dance and Arizona Secondary Certification. While at ASU, I was a member of Sondance, a modern dance company. I have a Master’s in Education from NAUYuma. I continue my education by attending dance and teacher training conventions at Tremaine, Dance Master’s of America, and the National Dance Education Organization.
Professional-Dancer’s Workshop, choreographer for Yuma Ballet Theatre, co-director Dazzlers and JOY, and founder/director of Spirit Alive Dance Company. My public education career began as dance teacher at Yuma High School. I have a true love for high school age students and have been Kofa’s and Yuma High School’s dance teacher for 24 years, teaching all styles of dance and directing musical theater concerts. I have served on the Board for Yuma Ballet Theatre.
